As we learn from our Native relatives, it is often the ones who are shunned, ridiculed, and attacked by bullies who have the most powerful medicine to offer. For this is the power of the Scapegoat energy – which drives us away from the collective into the wilderness where we connect with the Great Spirit and learn to call on our helpers and become the creatures we were meant to be in this life.
It is so important during these times that we know the wisdom and teachings of our Ancestors, for even though we have arrived with much clearer knowledge of our mission than many others, we are dependent on the Elders of all Nations to show us the pathways our people have walked, and to teach us the wisdom and medicine – the Old Ways – to help us clean up and restore our Mother Earth and our communities.
In the Bird Clan, Eagle is the keeper of the Northern Door of the Medicine Wheel - the White House which represents Spirit. And this is where the Grandfathers live. When we enter into prayer every day, it helps us remember our relatives in all four directions - beginning with those in the North who are suffering from food insecurity and pollution of our natural water supply.
